Design That Matters: Why sub-contractors shouldn't talk with clients

Here at Functional Conceptz we appreciate our sub-contractors and most we consider family. Most remodeling businesses use sub-contractors as they are extremely important and can contribute to the overall success of the business. Sub-contractors get work done quickly, both efficiently and cost-effectively. However, while sub-contractors can be great additions to a team, one of the most important rules is to ensure that they never communicate directly with clients. There are many reasons why this is a good idea, and here are a few of the most important ones.

The most important reason to keep sub-contractors from communicating with clients is that they are not privy to the entire project. As a result, they could over-promise, or even worse, make mistakes that could be costly to the main contractor or interior designer. Clients often expect a certain level of communication and support that a sub-contractor can’t provide as they are also unlikely to understand the internal workings of the project, or have the knowledge or resources to answer questions or provide help. It’s always best to have the main contractor or interior designer being the one communicating with the client, as they’re better equipped to handle any issues that arise.

It’s important to keep the client’s experience positive and consistent, and having the main contractor or interior designer be the one to talk to the client is the best way to ensure that. This way the client is always receiving the most accurate information, and the best customer service.

Conclusion

Finally, subcontractors may not have the same level of expertise as the main contractor, and may not be able to provide the same type of customer service. In short, subcontractors should never talk to clients directly. It’s important to keep sub-contractors away from clients as much as possible. By ensuring that the main point of contact is the business, it can help to maintain communication, reliability, and customer loyalty.
